Default Beaks subframe reinforcement vs. ASR Subframe Brace

Beaks subframe reinforcement vs. ASR Subframe Brace

Which is better or do they both do the same just job with the same results?

I'm looking to upgrade my rear sway bar to a 23mm ITR or 24mm ASR sway bar.

Will both kits work the same? Or are there any added benefits of using the ASR brace?

Yeah, the benefit to the ASR brace is that your subframe won't be damaged with it's use.

I've seen instances of people ripping their subframes even with the Beaks kit. I've NEVER seen anyone tear their subframe with the ASR brace.

The ASR brace is a tried and tested part and the fact that 95% of racing civics use them, the choice seems pretty clear to me!

Really? I've never seen or heard of this. What car(s)?

<--- Been using Beaks on two cars over the last 3-4 years without problems.

I used a Beaks kit for 2 years with no problems.

However, I dont like the drilling involved with the Beaks, so id suggest the ASR.

This...... http://www.beaksproducts.com/PopUp/SRK_EG_DC_50.htm

VS this http://www.weaksauceparts.com/store/...id=18423&cat=0

I was always told the brace would keep the corner ends from ripping out.
But i have seen the LCA holes elongate or tear from not having one.

However, if you need to add weight for a racecar to make minimum weight, it's a great place to add "ballast". Of course, I've designed a few of these "braces" to be more than 5 pounds though.

I agree with you 100%
I bought the beaks kit to finish out my suspension b/c I got it for $50 vs the $190 asr brace. I don't like how you can't ever go back to stock sway bar if I wanted to sell the car. The subframe is pretty much ruined after having to drill holes and knock out the welded nuts. If I had it to do over I would of spent the extra cash on the asr brace. Someone said with the new design you don't have to take out the welded nuts. Everything stays stock.

The welded nuts inside the subframe were the lca goes. They are what held the stock sway bar mounts on the subframe and also the abs brackets. I guess it depends on your car. If you have a cx/vx/dx eg then they don't come factory with a sway bar so there is no welded nuts. On my integra it has a factory sway bar so I had to remove them.

Your posting the same pic that pops up if you google beaks subframe tearout. Everyone tries to knock the beaks kit. First off that pic is for the ek chassis which is know for having subframe tearout due to hondas design. Second beaks has changed the design for the ek kit and there have not been any problems since. The eg and dc chassis mount a sway bar differently then the ek. No subframe problems using beaks kit.

As to those 'welded nuts': these are only mounted on EGs and EKs with stock rsb (EG/EK SI), EGs/EKs without stock rsb don't have those 'welded nuts'.

EK4/SI subframe pic:

I had a 93 DX sedan with welded nuts, that had to be removed for the beaks.
