Anyone running mfactory plate lsd?
Anyone able to give me a bit of an idea of what to expect for service life out of a mfactory metal plate lsd? Trying to decide between plate and helical. Car will eventually be retired to track use only.
I know it depends on usage but just looking for some kind of an idea...
Car will be mixed use street driving and lapping days / driving schools.

Re: Anyone running mfactory plate lsd?
well i'm picking one up this weekend... the almighty internet searching seems to say "minimize" street driving AND to run super sticky track tires when on the track. this will increase the life of the plates. "they say" that you can get over 1 season (undefined) of track use out of them but its best to service the diff when you are off season.... so i read that as its not going to last 2 whole seasons (undefined) of track use. I say "undefined" because some people seasons are 4-6 weekends and other peoples are 10+.
my advise (and most of what i read before picking this transmission up) is to run helical until is a dedicated track car.

I JUST killed mine.... before I owned it , it had 3 seasons of pretty heavy nasa racing....
I've raced scca, nasa, and did a few track days with it. I loved it, and will be sending it back for a rebuild....it doesn't appear to be broken, just worn.

mFactory just started offering new "Type SS" plates that are supposed to make the lsd more friendly for street driving. Not sure how it affects service life but something to look into.

Re: Anyone running mfactory plate lsd?
I know this post is old, but I thought I would give my experience if you are still looking for it.
I've run 13 NASA track days on mine.
1 day = 10-15 minute practice session + 10 minute qualifying session + 30-40 minute race.
I use a 50/50 mix of Torco RTF and Torco MTF, and a 4 oz bottle of Torco friction modified (type F). I usually change the fluid every 3-4 track weekends.
I have yet to pull the diff out to rebuild it. But probably will after this calender year.

Re: Anyone running mfactory plate lsd?
Anyone else had understeer problems after installation? Since installing I found I have more understeer on corner entry, have tried using the Torco Friction modifier but doesn't seem to help...
