Default 500lbs/in spring, 7" or 6"?

I'm looking into running a staggered spring rate for my '91 Si for autox. I'm thinking about using a 500lb/in spring in the right rear corner of the car. My question is, should I use a 7" free length spring or would I be okay to use a 6" free length spring with that spring rate? Just concerned about coil bind using the 6" spring with a 500#.

Thanks for any advise!

Default Re: 500lbs/in spring, 7" or 6"?

all my ERS are 7" except my pair of 900's, which arent available in 7" [edit, oh look, they added the 7" 700-1100lb option], so given the choice, i got it in 6". i dont recall having any issues when i played around with my other 7" springs in the rear.

catalog says the difference in travel is only .5" (4.19 max travel with 7", 500lb). and the max load to block height (max compression) is 2100lbs, 300 more than 6".

might as well stick with 7", you can still get low, but probably not slammed. im sure youre not wanting that...
