Default **Need info on how to break Porterfield R4S brake pads in after install**

I just bought Porterfield R4S brake pads for my Acura Integra GSR. It did not come with instructions on how to properly break them in. These carbon kevlar pads have to be broken in a certain way. How do you break the pads in properly?

Do you make a few easy stops after install? Do you make a few hard stops after install? Do you brake until you get them hot?

With R4S pads, you want to do about 5 hard stops from 40, then do about 5 hard stops from 60. Then let them cool down. That should be enough to break them in.

make sure that you drive enough let the pads & rotors cool down before you park the car. otherwise you will be shopping for new rotors (warp-olo baby)

From Porterfield's web site:

Is there a bedding in procedure for your pads? Yes. The Carbon Kevlar pads have a bedding in procedure. Make light to medium deceleration stops to slowly heat up
disc. This must be done slowly to avoid thermal shock to the disc. Make a series of hard stops, allow to cool slowly.

Right, the series of stops from 40 allows them to slowly heat up, and then the hard stops from 60 get them really hot. Woo hoo! (sorry, I'm just not correct very often)
