just bought it and it's misfiring
I know this is the wrong place for this thread but im just trying to find answers..
My wife and I bought a 1998 crv with 200000 miles just over a week ago. We put nearly 400 miles on it and its run great the entire time... Until today... She put about 30 miles on it today with no problem then came home for a few minutes then went out to get gas and the car started to hesitate a lot and seemed to misfire. I took it around the block to see what was happening and it seemed to lose power from about 1000 rpm until 2900 rpm then it would drive better. It also has a slight hissing sound coming from the engine bay somewhere. From what I read online it sounds like its either the cat or valves need to be adjusted. I haven't done anything to it sense I bought it other than put gas in it. Does anyone have any ideas? Please and thank you

Re: just bought it and it's misfiring
Hmmm. Sounds like it was running fine until your wife got some gas. Is it possible that you may have gotten some bad gas (with water traces in it)? You might consider adding a bottle of "HEET Gas-Line Antifreeze & Water Remover" to your gas tank. If you have some water traces in your gas, this should remove it.
Hope this helps.

Read the code if it's an actual misfire will say which cylinder number. If coils are original never been replaced they all need replacing and spark plugs at same time. I have experienced this on my 330,000 miles F250 triton. I hope those plugs had antisieze on the threads. You do not want a plug to breakoff. If siezed in motor use penetrating oil and patience. Goodluck buddy.
