Default Class action lawsuit against OBX

Not really but just extremely frustrated. Heres the story cliff note style.

Bought OBX Header + CAT + CAT-Back Exhaust for my 1997 honda crv = Cheap easy, read few reviews that the stuff for CR-V was ok. Besides how bad can they **** up welding pipe to flanges. Extremely bad. Immediate problems: Backordered Catback from ebay and other website. Solution custom made catback for same price, good stuff. Next problem Header leaks after I installed it. Flange is so warped that two gaskets sandwichd would not do the job. Now must get flange milled. Considering it took almost a month to get the headers I do not have the time or the patience to deal with their BS life-time warranty. Anyways I already know that will get me no where from what other people have said about wanting to file a class action lawsuit for the same reasons. Only til after did I find out that other peolple have had bad experiences with other flanges besides the crv ones.

Thanks OBX.

The only thing people can really do is stop buying OBX parts. I swore to never buy from them but it was the only option, that or custom made by a friend who already has his hands tied with my 78 cvcc and his projects.

Dont buy OBX parts not worth the hassle. Should of kept stock.

Eh I have a obx catback....I am neither impressed or disappointed. Sounds OK but muffler hangs crooked.

I am probably going to modify a b18 header to work on my V. Cheaper and will end up being a better quality....

OBX marketing strategy is to copy something else, produce it in a manner that is 66% shittier, but only save the consumer 33% in price.

btw, did you grind the lip/guide from the head of your b20 before you
installed the obx headers?? coz that was my problem before, ive CEL
telling me bout the exhaust leak.. them later on we figured that its
causing the leak since the plate of the headers wont snug to th head
even if you use couple of gasket.....

Weird looks like the flange might only be hitting one of the lips. I guess that could of warped the head torquing it against that. I will still get the flange resurfaced and will grind those lips down, any recommendations to do it, maybe use a dremel?

A dremel will work well, just dont gouge the face.

use any flat grinder/sander...
if i could remember, the flange or the plate of the headers is bigger
than the oem ones, thats why they put those lips on the head to be
a guide for the oem ones... hopefully you'd resolve your issue!!
good luck!

It's common knowledge that OBX makes crap. Do some research next time

Dremeld it while taking care of the face but couldnt manage to keep it 100% unscratched, hit the face a few times but dont think it is enough to cause any leaks. I will consider putting copper gasket maker on it. First problem though is to get the flange flat. Going to machine shop tomorrow.

UPDATE: OBX did not wrong me, the tab did. Altough the flange did hit and I was not told by OBX that it would I am less upset and more confident in OBX. The flange was tightened on the tab and that warped it. Hopefully resurfacing/milling and retorquing will seal it.

More to come...

Dont be a tard I did research, and found that people had good luck with cr-v stuff. Tab warped the flange, the flange did not come warped.

All fixed. Cost a **** ton more than I expected from the machine shop. I was quoted 60 dollars. But the SS on those flanges was so brittle that it took almost a day and a half to get it milled down flat, they were having trouble getting it mounted securely. Regardless it was a mistake I have learned from. Failure is the tuition you pay for success. Seals nicely now and sounds good. Next job is tires, alternator, external tranny cooler, and rear drums/shoes

Seriously...it's OBX. People who think that crap is good obviously have never been around a quality aftermarket part before.

As I said in another thread, OBX parts are for people who drive '93 Civics with 3 differently colored body panels on it and rust on the rear fenders.

But if you have the RT4WD, you have to use a specially bent header. The output for the drive shaft is not down the middle of the V, it comes off on the passenger side so the collector has to be bent. (I cant find the pictures to show the bend right now, but I know that qwrty has posted them on here a few times)

Still holding together good, sounds nice aswell. Overall I cant complain, although OBX does make some bad quality stuff this header and the obx lsd people seem to keep buying.

it might not be all the time...
probably if they outsource most of their products outside
the US, might be true quality control issues and if your mass
producing it, that could have been the case... but if its limited
or special orders..they might have made good product.. im not
backing up obx its just that most of the items i have works great
for me....

has anyone just modded a b18 header to fit? I have a nice RS*R gsr header that looks like I would just have to cut the flange off and weld on a little curved pipe to clear the protruding area on the transmission
