Cannot program second key to immobilizer
Hello all,
Long story short I had to replace the ignition lock in my wife's 2008 pilot. I changed the tumbler so it uses the original 2 keys (with the keyless fobs). The immobilizer is new so those keys had to be matched to that. After much headache the tech was only able to get one key programed. They have had the car for 2 days on the phone with Honda Tech and even cut a brand new key and were not successful. They told me they are done working on it for free, and quite frankly I have little faith in their troubleshooting skills.
I think he is missing something because they were both fine before. He tried several procedures on the Honda tablet such as "lost all keys" to "add a key" etc and still only one key agrees with the immobilizer.
Any ideas to try? Is there something that would only allow one key to be programmed to the immobilizer?
Thanks,
Chris
