Anyone ever turbo an Odyssey?
I've seen a few turbo kits going on Yahoo Japan auctions, just wondering if anyone here stateside has ever turbo'd their odyssey?
The 1st gen seems easier to turbo since most of its engine parts are based off the accord platform.

Re: Anyone ever turbo an Odyssey?
Check out my thread on my Odysseys. I've built two and I'm currently working on a third. My thread was mainly for the 5-speed conversion and the suspension modifications, but there's a guy who replied a few times from Texas who's turboed his; I believe his handle is "overboostin." "Mommy Charlotte" Devera did it back in `97 on the original F-series engine and was pretty succesful with hers. I'm going to turbo one of mine as well, but I'm building another long-block for that. Once I get some pics taken I'll post 'em, but other than the piping and the intercooler size, it should be no different than turbocharging a Prelude.

If you're going to stick with F-series use the long-block out of a CB Accord. They have awesome flow characteristics, almost equal to that of an S2000 K-series. I'm going to use an H22 on both of my Odyssey's, one turbo and one all-motor.

awesome i did not know that, do you think the auto trans could handle the hp of a turbo? ive seen your 5speed odyssey and its awesome but how much work was it to make it standard? im up to the task i just need some insight on what all you have to do to convert it

Re: Anyone ever turbo an Odyssey?
The auto trans won't last long with a turbo set-up. I've trashed two Odyssey auto trannys already, which is convenient since I just convert them anyway. The conversion is similar to doing an Accord auto-to-stick conversion (there are numerous threads on the net on how to do those). The only parts that I had to fabricate where a shifter-box and two modified Honda pedals, and you'll have to have a hydraulic line made to connect the clutch-master to the clutch-slave. There's a little drilling to do, wire fiddling, and tinkering you will have to do to get it to start, release the key from the ignition, etc. The drive-train portion of the conversion is a bolt-on affair with all stock Honda parts. I recommend a heavy-duty Prelude clutch for the extra weight. If you're a proficient mechanic and you have a good amount of tools you can knock it out in a day or two. I'm making a pedal-set and shifter-box for a guy who's going to do it on the East coast right now. The other guy from Texas, who posted on my other thread, has done it successfully as well, but I don't know what technique he used when made his pedals and shifter assembly.

Re: Anyone ever turbo an Odyssey?
I'd like to piece together a kit for my ody.
I know HKS make a few different kits for the Odyssey back in the day, some are floating around still.

Do you think a treadstone turbo kit for an accord would work? They go for less than 2000 and they use turbonetics turbos with your choice of bov and a tial wastegate.

Re: Anyone ever turbo an Odyssey?
Any of the Accord turbo kits (or Prelude kits, if you're running an H22) will work just fine. The only issues you're going to run into are the intercooler fitment and the piping. There's not much room behind the bumper cap unless you cut or remove the 5mph-rienforcment bar, or go with a body kit that has a lot of space behind the front end. I have a Garson kit that has all kinds of room behind the front bumper, mainly because it's just a fiberglass shell, but if you're thinking of using the stock bumper you will have to get creative.
