Default 2003 Pilot blinking drive light indicator

I just bought a 2003 Pilot. I would like to love it, however it has spent more time at the Carmax garage than in my garage so far. I noticed the gear indicator light starts blinking after I shift the vehicle into drive and drive it about 8 to 10 miles. Carmax can't get the light to blink again. They sent it to a transmission repair facility that they use. The tranny shop can't get the light to blink for them either.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Bought two weeks ago. Driven for two days.

Tell carmax to send it to the dealership and have them pull the transmission codes. They will do it because I work at a dealer and they ship us cars all the time to fix.

Thanks for the tip Ross.

I have the advantage here because I am keeping our very reliable car that we are upgrading from. I am asking Carmax to either find us a Nissan Murano that is comparable, or to replace the transmission in the Honda that we bought.

The servcie manager at Carmax made the mistake of telling me that the transmission shop that he sent it to has a malfunctioning device that collects these error codes and they are waiting on that shop to replace their equipment. Well, I don't think I should have to wait on that shop. Instead, he should have told me that he is having it sent to the dealer where the equipment used to collect the error codes is in working order.

Now, the only way I will accept that Honda is if they replace the transmission.

How will I know if they actually replaced the transmission. Should I ask to have a copy of the work order with the vehicle VIN number on it?

Well you should find out what the trouble code is first. Just because the D4 light is blinking doesn't mean you have a dead transmission. Just have them take it to a dealer and let them figure out whats going on. It could be something simple.

You are right. I'll give them the opportunity to fix the problem. I do like the Honda.

Carmax has agreed to send it to a dealer instead of the privately owned shop they sent it to last week.

Wish us luck. I'm hoping it something minor. I'll report back next week.

Thanks loads Ross!

Carmax made good on it. They didn't take it to a dealer but they did light a fire under the shops *** to get r' done.

The shop said it was a pressure sensor and they went ahead and replaced all four of the pressure sensors for the tranny.

The Honda runs fine and we love it. A comfortable ride indeed.
