Rust around windshield (cost to fix)

My windshield cracked and leaking on my 88 crx dx, so I want to replace it. There is some substantial rust bubbbling up at the top of the "pillars" top corners of the winshield. This is my winter beater so I don't want to spend a whole buch of money. Anyone had this fixed, is so how much am I looking at? Rust is pretty bad - small hole in centre size of a rasin surrounded by 3 inch diameter bubbling.

We had the same thing in and around the pillars in our rally car. Simply sand the rust thoughoughly, brush on some anti rust compound, and repaint. As for the hole, eith bondo (cheap but not very good) or weld in a small patch of metal.

I'd say (guessing) under $200.

I would bring it by A1 autobody and have it done professionally so it won't come back.

not if you cut out the rust and weld in a new pillar, metal or used pillar. But he said cheap so it depends on his skill level. I'd grind all the rust off. treat it and bondo over for cheapest fix.
