Overheating: Big intercooler blocking my radiator?
 

I just boosted my 2001 Prelude, and I replaced my stock radiator with a dual core 2" c&r Civic aluminum radiator (which is about half the length of my stock one) I removed my A/C, I am using a 12" 1300cfm fan on the back of the radiator, and it is hooked up constant. I also have a huge greddy type 24 intercooler, which is like 12"h, 30"w, and 3" thick, and I am thinking that this is actually blocking alot of my airflow to the radiator, because my car will start to get really hot after about 30 mins of driving (not boosting). So what I am wondering is that, I am looking to get a 10" 1400cfm fan and put that on the front side of the radiator and reverse it to push the air through, and I was wondering if this will help the car cool down better than the curent setup? Alos the thermostat is working, and the headgasket is not blown, thanks.

Shouldnt overheat even if the intercooler is in the way. Ive heard of alot of people overheating when the coolant lines for the turbo are installed wrong.

Ive just started my b16a1 with the d15b radiator, which is single core, using a t25g with the coolant lines hooked up and ive had no problems.

the intercooler should not make it over heat, is your fan pulling air or pushing it, i would check that first, those fans come setup to be pushers you have to flip the blade on the shaft befor you install it. and make shure you have the polarity right on the wiring, it gos diffrent ways for push and pull applications.

I read the post he made but i dont think he is using a turbo with coolant passages.

Maybe you have some air pockets in your cooling system, since its a new rad? I dunno im not sure what it might be, just making a suggestion.

Look forget about the fan for a minute. Lets focus on your fuel management. What are you using???

If your running lean, then your temps will go up.

If your ignition timing is in-correct your temps will go up.

If you say that the fan you got pushes 1300cfm then that should be no problem. Quick question, what brand is this?? Can't be FAL............

If you took out the A/C condensor then you should have no heating problems, well if none of the above applies to you.

For the coolant mixture, if your in the heat like I am then use 75% water and 25% coolant.

A good quality I/C would not make a car overheat, they are designed to cool and let cool. that also explains their high ass price.
