A/C - R-134A Low Side Service Port
 

Is the low side service port located on near the radiator, with a screw on cap with the letter "L"? I bought the "R-134a Total Treatment 5.25oz/148 Grams". It doesn't come with a gauge so how do I know when its full or when to stop?

Yes, that's where it's located. If your a/c is only cool and not cold and you don't have access to a gauge set, keep adding it until you can feel your a/c get colder than hell.

Buy a meat thermometer and stick it in your vent, when it drops down to around 46-48 then it should be good to go. At least, in my car it only gets down to 46-48. My mom's '91 Camry will get down to 40-42 sometimes. Damn Toyota.

yes, that's where you put the refrigerant in. I think i did mine to 35 psi, and 40 psi is the max, but I'm not sure. hopefully somebody else knows.

anyone know if you can use the "R" refridgerant in a 91 Integra? Mine needs recharging BAD.

to fix this properly you must take it to a qualified professional (yes you need a license to handle freon) they will most likely evacuate your system then fill again adding some oil the low side pressure should be around 35-40 as said by another person in this thread but you also have to look at the high side... it will tell you if you have a plugged expansion valve or a bad compressor


if you overcharge your system you can cause severe damage to the hoses and compressor so be carefull when doing this at home ... it may seem easy but without the right tools you can cause more damage then it is worth ...


just to let people know in so cal area i have in the past helped honda tech members evacuate and refill their ac systems i charge only 50 bucks including freon (R134a) or 60 for R12 systems with freeze 12 the best R12 replacement available

If you need a license to handle freon (R134a) how come they sell them in little cans at autozone? Where in so cal are you, i'm from San Diego. I might be interested.

anyone can buy R134a but to evacuate a A/C system you need the license .... for R12 you can not buy it without a license .. i hold the license but i very rarely buy it due to the cost of it and the fact that you can get freeze 12 very cheap and it works as good or better as R12

I got it to work, I just over filled it. Pressed down the tab on the Low Side Service Port and let out the R-134a until it started getting cold https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
