What are the symptoms of bad turbo seals?

I think I may have blown seals. I don't know how this could be, seeing as the turbo is almost new, but if you could list some symptoms of bad seals, i'd really appreciate it. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

oil leaking into the turbine housing and burning....(smoke coming out of the exhaust) if its turbonetics...i've seen a ton of there stuff leak, BRAND NEW.

It's a Garrett T28. My car does smoke and reak of oil. Sometimes it smokes badly, other times it does't though. Everything on the motor is either new, or good, so i've ruled it out to bad turbo seals.

You're probably right. The seal is bad. How it could have happened? Most T-28s are just a T-25 that was rebuilt and bored out to accept a larger compressor wheel. Perhaps the rebuilder didn't do as good of a job as you would hope.

Did you get it from Stone Racing? Their stuff seems to be pretty crappy.

I'm not sure where it originally came from.

You can always check your downpipe for oil....

That's true, I was also told to check IC pipes. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

The return line can also play a role in this right? I mean if it is kinked and hindering oil flow it is feasible that it would get past the seals. I have oil getting past my brand new T3 Garrett turbo seals but I'm using 5w30 synthetic and I'm switching to 10w30 synthethic very soon.

I've heard about that. My return line isn't kinked in any way though. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emdgust.gif

i have oil in my IC pipe https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif , probably turbo seals

Re: What are the symptoms of bad turbo seals? (integrx)

Can anything else cause this? PCV? Oil pan gasket? Anything? If I look under my car there is grime all over the place, as if oil is squirting from somewhere and sand from the road is sticking to it. It's all over the oil pan, downpipe, IC pip, driver's side suspension etc. Mostly, if not only on the driver's side. Could this be my oil pan gasket?

ANyone?

only something internal to the exhuast system could cause exhuast smoking. Three major items are piston rings, valve guides/seals, and turbo seals, best possible situation turbo seals.

Re: (yellowfever)

I was wondering what the grime underneath my car could be. Hopefully something minor, like the oil pan gasket.
