What does this mean F23A1 or F23A4

Which engine do I have if I have the 2.3 litre 4cylinder in a 2000 Accord EX with a 5 spd tranny, sold in the U.S.

I need to know to order tuneup parts.

Thanks,
Curt B. Shumaker

ah..god almightly..there's a post about it like two days ago.

f23a1=vtec 6th gen four banger
f23a4=vtec 6th gen four banger with ulev(california)
f23a5=non vtec 6th gen four banger

it's a engine code so where you can find out which you have???
it's written on your engine, that's why it's call engine code.

FWIW - tuneup parts should be the same for both those motors.

You really don't even have to look at the code. Just look at the engine cover. A F23A1 will have "VTEC" on it, and a F23A4 will have "ULEV-VTEC" on it. The F23A4 is 2 hp/tq less than the F23A1. For what reason, I don't know. All I know is that I got stuck with one of them.

Thanks for the feedback. No thanks to you on the attitude. I am trying to gather information on a car that is 400 miles away. Excuse me for asking a question on a public forum. Oh yea, I did search...for about 20min. and wasn't able to come up with much.

Again, thanks for the detailed info.
