*+*EG hatch? VS, EG coupe?*+*

ok how much of a 1/4 diff would i have if i ran both cars with the same setup (ls vtec) just considering the coupe weighs more. i just cant make up my mind. i think the coupes are better looking but yet i know i'll be sacrificing speed. damm decitions

in a all out drag race my vote would be on the hb BUT it still depends on the driver.

if you like the coupe, get the coupe......if you are ALL about speed and 1/4 mile times then pick up a shit beater cx and dont give a shit about he exterior.....

get the coupe

Re: *+*EG hatch? VS, EG coupe?*+* (will7)

Both are very good. The main factor in this is curb weight.

Check the thread B18C5-EH2 made on curb weight for all cars.

The DX coupe is the lightest coupe compared to the EX.

But VX/CX is the lightest you can get.

Re: *+*EG hatch? VS, EG coupe?*+* (will7)

EG hatches are the best imo, but it's going to be your car. How often will you be at the track with it? If it's going to be your daily driver too, get the coupe.

no that's a rough estimate for civics
if your car weighed 200 lbs, and you took off 100, youd gain more than .1

a dx coupe is about 100-150 pounds lighter than a si hatch

Re: *+*EG hatch? VS, EG coupe?*+* (will7)

it should be that much of a difference unless your racing your car everytime you get in it... get a ex coupe... make the right decision lolz

Re: *+*EG hatch? VS, EG coupe?*+* (xSpooNxEkx)

First question you MUST ask yourself before you proceed any further: What is the purpose of this car

Once you decide on an answer, then you can decide on the body style. If you want an all out drag car, get a CX and strip the bastard till nothing is left. If you want a comfortable daily driver that still performs respectably at the track with the same mods, get the coupe.

You'll have to sacrifice something here. No way around it. The CX will weigh less, but you have to suffer with out the nice features like power windows, sunroof, a/c. And vice-versa.

Now to add my 2 cents... I absolutly LOVE my coupe. IMO, it looks more "classy" than a hatch.

Do what your gut tells you to. You'll be the one driving the car. Its your money so think long and hard before you jump to a choice.

Good luck https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

i personally love the eg coupes. if u are going daily driver with this car and running ls/vtec then get the coupe. your engine should have more than enough horses (as compared to the stock d series) to offset the 100 or 200 pounds heavier the coupe is over a hatch. if u wanna make your car all out fast for the track- go hatch

I really get tired of this bullshit.

When I goT my 1990 hatch in 1995 coupes were the shit, and everyone talked shit on hatches.

In 1997 when I got my 1992 Si hatch everyone talked shit about how I should have gotten an EX coupe.

I told them then that I liked the hatch better and that it would be quicker because it weighed less, and I got laughed at. Just look at me now.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Now that more people own hatches (but I'm sure there are still more coupes than hatches, just not on H-T) and they are "in" the coupe guys want to talk shit about how "everyone has a hatch" and "I wanted to be different" well guess what guys:

YOU DRIVE A HONDA, YOU ARE NOT EVER GOING TO BE DIFFERENT.

Re: *+*EG hatch? VS, EG coupe?*+* (will7)

coupe= bigger trunk, more room for audio system and what not
has more of a sportscar style to it when modified
ex has power everything, definitely pimp when cruising the streets
hatch=street racer styling, definitely a good looking body style
small trunk considering audio system mods, no power anything https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif
great parking everywhere, can be build to be faster

There are pros and cons to both, i've owned both and like them each for their own advantages and quirks and perks. It really comes down to what you want in your own car. Personally, I love the power accesories, my car to me is more than just a fast ride. It's like with a delsol, a lot of people on ht say it's slow and a pig. Once that top comes off and the custom stereo starts thumping, i love that car at that moment. you have to figure out what kind of car it is thtat you want. speed machine or street machine? https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

I get tired of people stereotyping. Not all coupe guys think like that dude. Before you try to put someone else down, think about how your post will affect others. You have a lot of influence on this board but its posts like this that make me think differently. Feel free to IM your response if you have one.

My reply that you quoted was in direct response to a coupe driver that said that everyone had a hatchback.

Re-read my post that you quoted and find for me where I said "every coupe owner talks shit" and if you can find that then I apologize.

I did not put anyone else down. All I said was that the general rule back in 1997 was coupes were the shit, and hatches were shit on. I then only went on to say that now that hatches have grown in popularity some people feel the need to categorize it as a "bandwagon" car by saying "everyone has one."

If I hurt your feelings or any other coupe guys then my bad, but I didn't see anything offensive. I never once said I didn't like coupes or anything like that.

Perhaps I should have put "the coupe guys that want to talk shit..." and you'd feel better about it?

The thing about driving a Honda and being different goes for eveyone regardless of what they drive be it a hatch, coupe, 4-door, etc. The argument from SOME coupe guys about "being different" is just damned silly.
