Installed my 99 SI Rear Sway Bar today!
I am VERY impressed with the difference. It really tighened up the rear end. Total cost was about $150.
heres how it looked to begin with: http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MxeTU0MQ%3D%3D This was the easiest way to get the bracket secured to the car. I used Locking nuts for a little extra security. http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MxeTU0MQ%3D%3D Dont forget to leave the bolts loose so you can get everything aligned right: http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MxeTU0MQ%3D%3D Cleared my Thermal Exhaust just FINE!! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MxeTU0MQ%3D%3D http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MxeTU0MQ%3D%3D Final Result: http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MxeTU0MQ%3D%3D edit: fixed pics [Modified by FifthGearOnline, 6:36 PM 3/12/2003] |

Should gone ITR rear bar for the price you paid for the SI bar - Its like $175 from Beaks with his mounting kit..
Thats my opinion... |
Re: Installed my 99 SI Rear Sway Bar today! (FifthGearOnline)

get some reinforcements for that sway bar or rip they will come out looks good https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif i was gonna do the same setup, but my custom exhaust doesn't clear. thinking about buying a complete catback so i can put on the bar. it's just sitting in my garage, missing one endlink and bracket. |

Re: Installed my 99 SI Rear Sway Bar today! (Hbspanky)
Question #1) What car is this on I take it a civic, but what year and trim level?
Question #2) Why did you go w/ the SI rather than Type R? (just out of curiousity) Question #3) Preloading the car??? What's this mean... and how do you do it? (sorry I am trying to learn as much as I can before I do it myself) https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif Looks good though!!!! Scott |
Re: Installed my 99 SI Rear Sway Bar today! (SlippylesKB)
I *think* preload is when the car is on jackstands so the springs are compressed...
If im not right, someone correct me.. |

Re: Installed my 99 SI Rear Sway Bar today! (josups)
your kinda there but not really. a sway bar is basically a straight spring. if you tighten it in the air the sway bar is set to how the suspension is in the air and not how it should be(when on the ground). so by tightening it in the air you put a load on the bar that should not be there and that hinders the performance.

Re: Installed my 99 SI Rear Sway Bar today! (FifthGearOnline)
did u have to drill anything or did they just bolt on.
also about the preloading question, how would u tighten the bar if it was on the ground? [Modified by willyboyD16, 10:37 PM 3/12/2003] |

once its on the ground......it "can" streach the bar out after a while
im just going to fix it when i put my suspension on at the end of the month. |
