jack stand tab?

what is this tab for? the caution reads: "Bend this tab after inserting ratchet bar"

so that the ratchet bar can't come out of the stand
also prevents it from extending too far

yea been using mine for about 18 months without bending the tab. never fallen on me or off the stands *knocks on wood*

The bent tab keeps the 'rachet bar' from falling out on your toe if you handle the stand upside down. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

how funny... I just noticed that on mine this weekend too.. we have the exact same brand jacks, I think.. I'm thinking of doing the old "weld to the plate" thing after seeing other low $ stands fail along the seam, though. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif
