No voltage on 12v constant wire

I tore an old alarm out of my car and now I dont have any voltage on the memory wire for the radio. When the car is off there is like .4v on it and when the car is running there is like 4v. I trace the wire to the fuse box. It isnt shorted to ground and all my fuses are good. BTW the car is a 93 civic. Maybe i am missing something obvious. can anyone shed some light on this for me. thanks

Gee whiz! I have the same problem with my 94 Civic. I had to grab power from a different place, after giving up trying to find out why. I never posted that one here though.

i saw this happen to a 98 civic with the factory radio. The radio "wasn't working" and they wanted a new one put in. Did that, still didnt' work. Here the accessory was at 5v's and not 12. Odd

Exact same thing happening with my 93 DX hatch.. only 4 volt coming across.. ended up running a wire from the battery.. This seems like a very common problem. Hopefully, someone will have the answer.

I think that is what I will end up doing. But I am gonna run a wire from the battery to a fuse box that I am gonna add to power the radio, power locks and alarm. It just bothers me know that that wire isnt working and i cant find out why

my friends 92 vx hatch had the same problem too, how weird, ran a new power wire from the battery to fix it. don't forget to fuse it too. wonder what causes this?

I had the same problem in my 97 integra. No power to the constant radio wire so I ran my own from the battery. Turns out there is a fuse called "Backup" in the fuse box under the hood. Doesn't say anything about radio on the fuse chart.

you all have the same problem it is the brown 7.5 amp fuse UNDER the hood that says back up replace that fuse and all your 12v will return to that wire

So anyways that fixed it. Thanks for the help. Finally after two months of not haveing anythign to listen to besides the sqeeks of my chassis.

Doh! I was just about to came back to this post and say that. I forgot to mention I've seen that happen a few times. The fuse blows, but not completely, so your voltage drops. I've seen an inline for an amp drop from 12 to .3v

Sho nuff she's blown captain. 7.5 amp backup fuse just like you said. I guess I shorted the wire while changing radios.
