Throttle Cable Adjustment
I adjusted my throttle cable tonite and I ran into a little problem... I was driving around after the adjustment and I noticed that my idle was higher than before (1250 rpm) when I had the stock 10-12mm deflection... So I decided to turn around and head back home to re-adjust it... When I finally get home I look at my tach and it reads 750 rpm... WTF is going on with my throttle cable? Is it sticky or is it too much tension from adjustment? Should I leave a lil bit of deflection? Somebody please help me...

Re: Throttle Cable Adjustment (SpoonN1)
The only thing I can think of is to disconnect the battery. It's worth a shot.
Try waiting more than 10 minutes before bumping, too. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif EDIT: Clarification. [Modified by clm, 2:42 AM 3/2/2003] |
Re: Throttle Cable Adjustment (SpoonN1)
It shouldn't be THAT tight...should be some slack in the line.

Re: Throttle Cable Adjustment (bryan305)
you just want to move the nut like 1/3", so it is taught. My only prob was, the rubber dirt guard broke after a wile. O well....
It dose help though! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emcocktl.gif |
Re: Throttle Cable Adjustment (bryan305)
How much slack should there be? Cuz Some ppl say to adjust it till no slack as long as the idle doesn't change. And some ppl say to leave 5mm slack. And some ppl say to do adjustment cold not hot or vice versa.
