Skunk2 are also sweet.
A lot of people like Toda and Spoon because they're steel, but I haven't had any problems with the aluminum ones. Never used them, but Unorthodox always makes badass stuff, but for the price you can probably get the Toda or Spoon ones. |

I have the Skunk 2 Cam Gears...but you should take a look at the new Golden Eagle ones!

Re: best cam gears??? (Boosted97Lude)
aem has 3-bolt design vs. skunk2's 6-bolt design... no personal experience with the aem cam gears but i hear people say that they slip...

Skunk2 are nice.

Re: best cam gears??? (accordexchange)
I have the old school AEM 3-bolts on my GS-R and they never slipped on me even though everyone told me they were going to. I just bought the new STR cam gears with the funky markings for my LS/VTEC. They look awesome but the markings take a little getting used to at first.

Re: best cam gears??? (Chrome Pipes)
skunk are bitch to adjust. they have a bolt right on the timing marks. stupid design. go with GE.

Re: best cam gears??? (MotorMatrix.com)
What does every one think of JUN? Or should I save the cash and go skunk2 or GE?

skunk are bitch to adjust. they have a bolt right on the timing marks. stupid design. go with GE. heres my experience with h series cam gears, aem 3 bolts sliped a little, crowers are nice but expensive, skunks old ones had to hammer pretty hard onto cam, unorthodox really nice but once again the price is outrageous. |

Go with some Tapp Auto cam gears.....

Re: best cam gears??? (Boosted97Lude)
After using and looking at quite a few cam gears...this is my opinions.
STR, Unorthodox, Spoon, Toda, Endyn, GE are all very good designs and I would have no problems using them on any of my future engine builds or recommending them to friends for their projects. Right now I 'm using a set of STRs becuse of the economical price versus features. But I think if you went with any of the above gears you would be happy. AEM makes other great products but I personally steer clear of their gears mainly because of the three bolt design. Does it slip or not?.....who really knows, but I'm not gonna chance it on my engine. [Modified by SLPR, 2:15 PM 2/11/2003] |
Re: best cam gears??? (SLPR)
STR is the way to go!!! I have the old style with the 3 bolt and they haven't slipped yet!!! I'm looking to get the new style soon!!! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

Re: best cam gears??? (Boosted97Lude)
I'm not too fond of AEM gears after seeing how they don't even line up right for my engine (89 Integra).
http://www.muller.net/sonny/crx/cami...aemgears-3.jpg The black marks are where the timing marks are on the STOCK gear. That, and the gear is about .080" too thick in the center of it. I can't put the timing cover back on. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif Sonny |
