Apex'i AVC-R scramble boost
If i use the avc-r boost controller on a car w/ hondata and toggle between low boost and high boost, how would I tune my car? If you switch between 2 different boost levels, wouldn't you run into serious problems of running rich or lean? thanks...

Re: Apex'i AVC-R scramble boost (DeeSeeToo)
this is not Scramble boost......
Scramble boost is merely a button that you can rig with your AVCR to close your wastegate for how ever long you set it, and you will build boost untill you release it. someone correct me if im wrong, but this is what true scramble boost is. basiscally its "how high can i hold it before i blow" |
Re: Apex'i AVC-R scramble boost (NYb16)
I believe on the ACV'R when you scramble boost you do nothing more than switch it to a higher boost setting for like when you are racing, say you normally run 7 PSI of boost and you get into a race you press scramble and it'll put the boost up to a higher preset level, set by you of course.

eathier way, i would like to know the answer to his question, i will have a simlier setup. i just thought that the hondata would see the higher boost levels and compensate for them.

I'm acutally looking at my AVC_R right now, and how would I use the scramble boost feature? I don't see any instructions regarding it in the manuel that came with it...

Re: Apex'i AVC-R scramble boost (DeeSeeToo)
1. Tune hondata for the highest boost you will use. Then you will already have maps for lower boost.
2. Scramble is a mode set for a certain amount of boost for a certain amount of time. |

Re: Apex'i AVC-R scramble boost (DeeSeeToo)
the instructions on how to hook it up is at the end of the manual. you hook up a speaker wire from a momentary switch to the orange wire and ground wire of the AVC-R. as simple as that. go to the ETC. mode, check switch, and SCSW to see if the button is working.

Re: Apex'i AVC-R scramble boost (DeeSeeToo)
Understand that Hondata uses spreadsheet type maps for ignition and fuel. When you create/tune the extra cells for 14psi, which you need a 3bar map sensor by the way, that enables all the maps up to 14psi. So you tune the system and all the maps in vacuum and up to 14psi. When you go lower in boost you only read the maps for the lower amount and dont use the other higher maps you tuned for. Hope this isn't confusing.
A VAFC changes the signal that goes to your ecu so when you say lean it out -5% it will show the ecu +5% so that the ecu will lean itself out. The VAFC you cannot add tables for boost because you are using a stock ecu and can't change the capabilities of the stock ecu like hondata can. I hope this helps and please correct me if I am wrong. thanks. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |

Re: Apex'i AVC-R scramble boost (DeeSeeToo)
you got it. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif good luck. The 3bar map sensor is only needed for boost over the capabilities of the stock map sensor which I believe is 11psi.

Re: Apex'i AVC-R scramble boost (DC2R714)
So in order to boost w/ hondata, is it a necessitiy to get the boost program, even if its under 11psi?

Re: Apex'i AVC-R scramble boost (DeeSeeToo)
yes you must get the boost option.
