help !! hesitation/jerking @ 4000 RPM, D16Z6 in 89 hatch DIY turbo
 

anyways .. we had the home made turbo kit on our D16a6 motor and it ran good and finally somethign went .. we tore off the head and everything looks good .. no cracked sleeves etcc. we thought bout rebuilding it but we got a hold of a D16Z6 for a really good price. we just swapped it in today along with the home made turbo kit

14B turbo, ported turbine housing, ported HF manifold, 2 inch mandrel bent charge pipes, 2.5 inch mandrel bent downpipe, no cats, 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust, DSM 450CC injectors, filetofits chip, 1st gen DSM BOV, SS bradided oil feed line, ACT clutch, 12lb flywheel,

anways with the D16a6 it pulled like a bat out of hell

i took the D16Z6 set up aroudn the block .. around 4K it hesitates a lot it starts jerking etcc ... what coudl be wrong ?? 1st gear it would go just great .. no hesitation but any other get and itll start to bog and jerk back n forth .. and the boost goes up n down .. HLEP !

Perhaps its the tune the sohc vtec engines have higher compression then the D16A6, what are you using to add extra fuel..

at first we thoguht it might be the VTEC so we disconnected it .. but same shit happens i guess vtec wasnt turning on

Yikes! thats pretty much my proposed set up. I'm gonna use a wideband to check everything out once it gets put in but I'd say remove/disconect the turbo kit and get the problem solved from there. Boost just makes little problems worse.

what are using to control your injectors? I'm running the smc. I just took off the pm6 computer and put in the p28 today. now it seems to ping sometimes above 4500. mostly in second and third gear. probably just my need 4 bigger exhaust. still don't think its pulling harder than the pm6. I had it tuned pretty well.
(remove/disconect ) ha! I thought he wrote remove/discard the turbo at first! pays to read stuff twice sometimes.

sounds like its running lean. need to add in some fuel..this is where the v-afc hack is better then the smc...you can ad fuel % at different rpms.

my turbo h22 did this till i found the vaccum line ti the fpr was kinked. i re did all my lines and now the car has power and boost all the way to 7400. it pulls like a mo fo now

update----

the computer reads from the back of your speedo for the vss. check your connections and reset your codes. might possibly have a bad speedo also.
