How far can you drive on a spare?
 

woke up with a flat tire earlier this week, i've yet to get it fixed (i'm ordering a new set of tires, and my pirellis are on the way). there's a snow expo in sacramento this weekend i really wanted to hit up, which is about 2 hrs away.

would it be safe to just put the spare on for the 4-5 hrs it'll be on the road? would it mess anything up?

no it won't mess anything up. It's a regular tire only smaller and less expensive to produce.

what're the dangers associated with driving on a spare?

the cruising speed on 99 down to sacramento is about 70 mph

I think it's like 50 or 55 max, mostly watch out on turns. Luckily that 99 is pretty straight, not very windy till you get downtown.

all good, my roomate just got off work so he can come, he's got a F150 we can take.

that wont last.
my idiot friend tried to race with his on (he is a little slow http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emwink.gif ) and tore the tire off the rim. so its NOT like a normal tire.
i would say no more than 30 miles and not over 55mph.
