1997 accord - P0401 code, how to clean EGR ports?
Hey,
Does anyone know of a good how-to on how to clean these? I found a website howto here: http://www.freewebs.com/hondadude/95...5AccordEGR.htm but the problem is my accord isn't like that one. It doesn't have the things in I circled in red: https://i.imgur.com/t0GJqC8.jpg neither of those lines are there, or that black valve or that connector looking piece off the black rail. Its a EX trim with the V-TEC and what I thought was a f22b1 motor but I'm questioning that now... any help is really appreciated, I really don't want to have to take it to a shop but being related to the fuel line I'm weary to go into this without exact instructions |

As long as you have the divorced EGR manifold... http://www.freewebs.com/hondadude/95.../egrrunner.jpg ...located under the fuel rail. I would not be concerned with those missing parts. If the EGR system was non functional more than likely the lift valve code(P1491) would also have appeared. One step I would add to that EGR DIY would be to purchase an EGR valve gasket. Remove the EGR valve and clean its base/pintle valve of carbon and soot built up. There won't be much, but if your car has over 200Kmiles on it, there will be a layer that can reduce total flow to the EGR manifold. Check/clean both ports in the manifold as well.
