5 Lug Conversion
I had gotten 05-06 RSX base front knuckles and looked at the 5 Lug conversion guide.
It said, If you have an 01-02 you must change out your lower control arms! -rsx front lower control arms(stocks can be modified to work by using tapered washers and taking up the slack) I am wondering if I can still use my 01-02 Front LCAs with the 05-06 Base RSX front knuckles. I would have posted in the old thread but couldn't. Sorry. |

If I remember correctly, they go from 14mm to 16mm. Use a caliper to be sure. |
Re: 5 Lug Conversion
I believe there's a typo in the 5-lug swap guide, and it should say "change your knuckles" not lower control arms.

Re: 5 Lug Conversion
Just to clarify things...
I have 05-06 Base Front Knuckles, so do I NEED 05-06 Base Front LCAs to make it work with my 02 EM2, yes? Are the 05-06 LCAs direct fit to the EM2's chassis? Is there any possible way to make the 05-06 knuckles work with the 01-02 LCAs? |
Re: 5 Lug Conversion
Could I just get 04-05 front LCAs instead of the Base RSX ones? BUT it seems as if the parts website I am seeing are selling LCAs for 01-05. They don't seem to be 01-03 or 04-05 specific.

You would just have to get reduction washers or Drill out the knuckle holes to 16mm, as yours are 14mm. Link for the reduction washers:http://ksportusa.com/b2c/proddetail.php?prod=RW0001 Right Matt? |
Re: 5 Lug Conversion
I was thinking of the ball joint size. The 05-06 knuckles, from my understanding, have larger ball joints than 02-04s. So, being that I have 05-06 knuckles that have the larger ball joints, I'm thinking I need 05-06 LCAs to fit it.

Re: 5 Lug Conversion
Will DC5r LCAs work?
|
Re: 5 Lug Conversion
DC5-R LCA's locate the balljoint 15mm further out from the center of the car, by comparison to all other LCA's. Yes, they could work... but they will also increase your negative camber, and decrease your wheel width clearance.
You could use 03-05 Civic knuckles (or your 05-06 Base RSX knuckles) and your factory LCA's. |
Re: 5 Lug Conversion
Geeze, the experiences from other people and info being given to me have been so mixed up. Hahaha.
Harlowe and FVentura don't think my factory 01-02 LCAs will work. While you say they will. And other guides say they will work and others say they won't. *Scratches head* |

01-05 Civics have the same balljoint. Base RSX and EP3 use the same balljoint, as 01-05 Civics. If you were to use the DC5-R LCA (or Type-S for that matter), you'd have to get a Type-S/R knuckle and balljoint.
Kevin, you should have gotten 02-04 base hubs like I told you, rather than going by these "write-ups" that are full of he said/she said misinformation. |

02-04 Base/type S & 01-05 Civic/EP3 use the same diameter ball joint. 05-06 Base/Type S and DC5R use a bigger diameter ball joint. You can drill out your factory EM2 control arms to fit the bigger diameter ball joints but it is a pain in the butt.
