Clutch bleeding

I just changed the clutch on my ek I swapped a stage 2 xtd clutch in as the old one burnt out. After putting everything back together I had some pressure in the clutch for about 5 min then the clutch stayed on the floor. I replaced the master and slave cylinder the next day and been trying to bleed the clutch for 3.5 hrs and still no pressure I noticed that no fluid from the Reservoir was being sucked in I'm stuck on this and dnt know what else to do can some one plz give me some ideas

Re: Clutch bleeding

Possibly your MC plunger is screwed in to tight...

undo the locking nut from the pedal and back it off a turn... Then fine tune the adjustment once you've got it bled..

Re: Clutch bleeding

sounds like someone actuated the clutch while the slave cylinder was detached from the transmission, thus popping the piston out of the slave cylinder.

If this is the case it needs to be popped back in if possible and re-installed on the car, then restart the proper bleed process again.

Or the clutch master has had it day, check for some wet stuff (brake fluid) at the base of the clutch master inside the engine bay, and where it come through the firewall in the cab.

Re: Clutch bleeding

I've checked the slave cylinder and it works just fine... I can hear a suction noise coming from the master cylinder but yet no fluid is getting pushed through... If it is clogged how can I unclog it?

Re: Clutch bleeding

master cylinder probably was not bench bleed and all the fluid ran out. take the line off at the master cylinder and crack it and pump the clutch until it primes thru. keep the slave cylinder open and have someone pump the clutch as u use ur finger over the bleeder to bleed instead of closing and opening the bleeder.

Had the same issue once

Try putting a hose on the bleeder and put the other end in a container of fluid. Keep the reservoir topped up and just pump till you have no more air bubbles.

You can prime the master that way to.

Re: Clutch bleeding

the master needs to be bench bled OFF of the car, the pushrod from the pedal cant push the piston enough to initially bleed it, go to the auto parts store, get one of the kits with the plastic screw in nipples, and a couple of pieces of rubber line, they are usually in the tool or help section, do some searching on line for master cylinder bleeding, its the same for clutch master bleeding, there are lots of really good articles and videos online on how to do it

Re: Clutch bleeding

So ima take off the master cylinder tomorrow since its raining but I did but manage to get some of the air out of it with a plastic tube I thought it was good... The fluid level dropped suction was good but once I hooked up the main line to it suction once again stopped and fluid level would not drop I checked all of the lines tightened them if they were loose nd nothin I guess ima bench bleed it tomorrow and see if that works
