Pure Acetone For MPG???

Okay, so recently I was informed that if you add a few ounces of Pure Acetone to your fuel that it will increase your MPG's by about 30%. Is this true? Sounds a little fishy to me...

Yeah it is true but you have to add the right amount. Not sure what the ratio is though.

Also sounds like a good way to prematurely deteriorate your fuel pump seal and injector o-rings/gaskets.

The cheapest I'm finding acetone is $7/gal, so even if you mix only one or two gallons with a tank of gas,it will have to really really increase your mpg to save you any money.

This acetone B.S. rolls around every couple of years; it's just that, B.S.

I know, I just failed to articulate my response properly and/or lay on the sarcasm thick enough.

Re: Pure Acetone For MPG???

I have tried a couple "additives" before. I have never run straight acetone mixed in before, but I did make something with 2 oz of high end 2 stroke oil, 1 oz of acetone, and 1/2 oz of xylene. Didn't really do much tho. I have found that if I just dump a few ounces of 2 stroke every couple tanks, it seems to run a little smoother and have a little more pep.

Good ole butt dyno right? I'm sure. Not the whole placebo effect

Well, if you have a dyno that I could use for free, I would love to see if my butt dyno is accurate or not.

the best additive and better than Acetone
is glyceryl trinitrate
will give you the best bang for buck

Nitroglycerin? It works just fine in my model airplanes; I'm thinking not so much in an automobile engine. That and it ain't cheap by any stretch of the imagination.

I have an idea. This may sound a tad bit crazy.. But try using what's recommended from Honda (who made your car) and put THAT in your gas tank! :)

What's the fun in that???

After long nights of drinking, I just piss in my gas tank and it is better than NOS!!!! I also suggest pissing on electric fences! You would be shocked by the results!

Personally, I'm a fan of those NOS energy drinks you can get at the gas station. Maaaaaan, put a bottle of that in your gas tank, and off you go!
