Need to replace inner tie rods, 99 Civic Ex

Im in the process of replacing my inner tie rods and wanted to see what brand people have gone with and any issues they may have run in to. I know that everyone loves OEM, as do I, but I know that many companies sell these parts at a lower price. The car is just a DD so no racing or extreme driving. Thanks

Can't go wrong with Moog tie rods

Seem like good quality but a little pricey.

You get what you pay for man. Moog is top notch and high quality, and for something as vital as tie rods I wouldn't skimp on it. Pay a little extra for extra peace of mind.

Yeah I deff see your point there. Those are the one's I'll pick up today. As for the boots any preference? I've seen that autozones suck and wear out pretty fast, at least thats what the reviews have said.

just buy oem ones. do it once or do it a few times, up to you. they're not really that expensive.

Why are you replacing the inner tie rods?

Is power steering fluid leaking into the rubber boots?

When I'm driving and hit a bump or hole I am hearing a noise under the front end. The tires are all new and the outer tie rods are new along with struts all the way around. The boot clips on the small opening are shot and no longer clipped to tie rod. Also when I grab them they have some slight play in them and they make the exact noise that I am hearing. Searched around online too and other have reported the same sounds and turned out to be inner tie rods.

Sounds reasonable.

Any fluid leaking into the boots?

Other than replacing them are you just able to tighten to the nut to take the slack out and just replace the boot? That would be helpful lol

When I purchased the car it had 163K on it. The previous owner apparently did no maintenace on the car. Poor EK! She's getting better now

From what I could see it didn't look as if any was leaking into the boot.

Yeah I had saved thise from another thread I had come across. As for tightening the bolt rather than replacing the inner rod, that doesn't work I take it? Either new parts are always nice lol

You could check whether the nut is properly tightened (40 ft-lbs).

Here is a video and quick pic prior to swapping all the parts out last night. That driver side boot was a pain in the #$%!

All is better now with new rear control arms going on last night along with new rear hubs and front inner tie rods and boots. The car is quite as can be and sitting at the alignment shop now.
