Engine running a little hot 94 civic ex
after the engine warms up,the coolant temp gauge goes up a little and comes down back to normal. It does not overheat,burn/loose coolant,or smoke and the rad fan and condensor fan both work. Also when its hotter than normal if you rev the engine to 2,000-3,000 rpms it cools back down to normal.not sure if its the thermostat stuck or the water pump is worn and not cooling properly.Any tips or info would be great, thanks

Does your fan come on? When last have you changed your coolant? Typically that symptom would be a weak thermostat spring or a sticking thermostat.. If the water pump was bad, there would usually be an indication of water loss or a growling noise from pulley (behind timing cover)

Has the waterpump ever been changed?

Re: Engine running a little hot 94 civic ex
changed the thermostat today and bleed the coolant and its a little better. The gauge rises a fraction of what it used to...but when the fan comes on it cools back down. Also when its running hot if you turn the heat on it cools down right of way.hmmmm maybe I have to bleed it better or possible poor coolant flow like a clogged radiator?

Re: Engine running a little hot 94 civic ex
well i have to check the water pump,I'm not sure im the third owner.it doesn't leak or make noise but it still might not be cooling the system right i guess

also when the engine was hot i took the radiator cap off and no coolant sprayed out, like it was under no pressure...I don't think thats normal

Re: Engine running a little hot 94 civic ex
Maybe your radiator cap is bad, it might not be holding the correct pressure... Do a pressure test... 15lbs

the part of the cap that creates pressure was broken off.I bleeded the cooling system 3 times and there are tons of air bubbles coming out,but was else can cause that much air in the cooling system? |
