Bent valves?

I was driving today and was only pulling the car to 6 1/2 grand when everything shut down on it. all 4 plugs have spark, dont have a compression checker but i removed the valve cover and held my hands over the spark plugs and it felt good on all 4. There is white smoke coming from the head which smells like exhaust. Could this be bent valves or could they be stuck?

Sounds like you may have lost the timing belt. Pull the upper timing cover and check the belt out. Valves dont just bend but will if you loose the timing belt. Like the one thing I dont like about Hondas. I broke the timing belt on my Supra turbo while racing under full boost well over 5k rpms and not bent valves or any damage, motor just shut down. Do that to a Honda and the valves are toast.

OLD SCHOOL TRICK TO CHECK FOR BENT VALVES:

-Get a uncreased piece of white lined paper (Not construction paper or similar its too thick)

-Let your car warm up to operating temp and allow it to idle

-Hold the paper flat over your exhaust so it covers the end completely

-Watch the paper closely, if all is normal it should just keep flapping outward. If you have a bent valve the paper will get sucked into the exhaust before it is pushed out

Re: Bent valves?

Do you have a rev limiter at 6-1/2k? I've not got my ecu chipped with a baseman yet and it cuts out at 6-1/2k!

That is a cool trick!! Good to know!

No revlimiter is set at 8200, pull all my plugs out and the one on cylinder 4 has oil on the bottom of it

This could be blowby. Plus you said you have oil in one cylinder. Rings are probably toast.

Re: Bent valves?

there are some good deals on here for pistons and rods, the best i'd personally say are wiseco or cp pistons & Eagle or BC Rods (brian crower)
