Save some money and get some underbody sealant.

Re: Flex seal rubberized stop leak in a can!
If you want to "recondition" the seal, use silicone or 'dielectric' grease.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Hond...item5d2fdea1d2 Or the same thing in a bigger package: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...id=p3286.m1934 If your seal is already trashed, spray away, but test it on a neighbor's car first. |

This is one of those times when I think you should just replace. Old rubber no matter what you do to it is a band aid at best.
Wasting money on products to just pay for the part later on. |

This stuff replaced the entire gasket on old sunroof, and looks great when it's dry. My buddy claims he patched a tire with it (Not sure until I try it myself, but based on the quality I wouldn't doubt it. I'll be going over my whole car with it this summer before a full body line-x. paid $13/can at dollar general, well worth it. It responds to sanding very well once dry too. and waterproof tight seal.
Count on a permanent fix though, as it doesn't wash off easily. |
Re: Flex seal rubberized stop leak in a can!
I was thinking about doing that too. I carry tools in my trunk and they're all starting to rust. Wouldn't be a permanent fix just something to stop it until I could afford a proper fix. Lemme know how it works out for you.

Any update?
Just purchased this and was planning on going this route. Already bought the Flex Seal and thought about using a food coloring with water to see where the water leaks. |
