Civic 93 will not start. Cranks up, but will not start? No spark
Honda Civic 1993 will make the starting sound(starter motor cranking up), but will not start the engine.
My mate, pulled out one of the sparkplugs holder and tried to see if any electricity will spark when touching the engine as I try to start it but nothing. Is there a test procedure I can do, to find out what the issue is? I am thinking it could be the distributor, but that would just be guessing. |
Re: Civic 93 will not start. Cranks up, but will not start?
If you have no spark....it's the ignition coil located inside the distributor!
(or the distributor/rotor in the distributor cap itself is toast) Ignition coil is kinda pricey, but the cap/rotor is cheapish Do all three and rest easy! Good luck! PS: wires too just in case they're old and rickety and not transferring spark. |
Re: Civic 93 will not start. Cranks up, but will not start?
I got a EG8 with a D15b and I had a problem where I was figuring out how to get my car started. I first changed the plugs and wires. Nothing. Changed the fuel pump. Nothing. Cap and rotor did nothing as well. I cleaned the engine with seafoam thinking there is sludge clogging the engine. Nothing after that. I then changed the Coil as Texas4door says. It works! Advance auto parts has the coil for 50 while autozone and o'reilly have it for 80... Advance's one comes with lifetime as well.

Change the ignition cap and rotor 1st then look at wires/plugs cuz if the cap and rotor are bad most likely it needs a tune up anyway

Try checking your main ignition relay. Its located under the dash on the drivers side. To the left of the fuse box.
-hold your hand on the relay then turn the car to the on position, the relay should click once when turned to on position then again after correct fuel pressure is established. (Check engine light turns off at the same time of second click) - these relays are a very common problem for civic 88-95. Come across it more than 6 times - they control the fuel and ignition. |

honvic --> tell us whether or not the fuel pump primes and whether any CEL codes are thrown.
