OBD2 port not working

I put a b16a jdm engine into my 97 civic ex. I want to get it bar'dm but my obd port isn't working. Can it be that that I have a jdm ecu? (p2t).

That is the only thing holding me back....
any help is appreciated! ( and yes i am a noob, trying to learn!)

Re: OBD2 port not working

what year is the b16? i have a b16 from the 2000 si and am running a jdm p2t with no problems but i did need a jumper harness to go from obd2a to obd2b due to the wiring harness for the car being different

I have a jdm ecu? (p2t).... this is the problem that ecu dont support the diagnostics port

I'd say you hit the nail right on the head there. You will need to run a usdm ecu.

the engine is from 99/2000 si
how much was the harness and what kind?

Will my d16 ecu work on the b16? it is a usdm p2p?

Thanks again

Nope. Did you not research this before you did the swap?

The car should run. Just not properly. Probably won't pass BAR that way

So should I try and get the ecu of the b16a2? what would be the difference?

What do you recommend for me to be able to pass?

Thanks

get a usdm b16 ecu from a 99-00 si or a b16 del sol

Alright, just out of curiosity, how would it change by switching ecu's, performance wise, should I still use the jdm ecu after I get everything bar'd?

Re: OBD2 port not working

switching ecu's will not do much both usdm b16 makes similar power to the jdm b16. the jdm ecu redline is 8200 vs usdm 8000 and vtec engagement for the jdm is 5800 and usdm is 5600. just little ecu tweaks are the differance. the jdm motor just has a slight bump in compression over the usdm b16. 10:6 vs 10:2

Re: OBD2 port not working

Jdm ecus do not communicate with usdm scan tools that is the reason behind your issue. Also since you are trying to bar your car, try to find a 96-97 p30 from a 96-97 del sol dohc vtec. The bar techs wont take kindly to jumper harnesses and the wrong ecu.
