Removing rear view mirror
7 Attachment(s)
This is for everyone who has a rear view mirror that is attached to the windshield without a set screw to hold it in place. I've included pictures to help because I'm not the best at putting thoughts into words.
Hopefully this helps because in know I had a hard time to find clear instructions on how the mirror itself was attached to the metal peice on the window. 1st off you need a very small flat head screw driver or I used a 3mm alan key. Make sure your mirror is as far down towards the dash, as possiable. Insert the alan key into the hole at the bottom of the mirror bracket, on a angle so it points to the center. Attachment 227421 Attachment 227422 Push the alan key (hard) to bend the retainer clip inside. As you push the clip aside, pull upwards on the mirror to remove it from the metal clip on the window. Attachment 227423 Attachment 227424 The following are pictures of the retainer clip inside the mirror and clip attached to window. Note the cracks in my window were from b4 and were not made worse by removing the mirror. Re: Removing rear view mirror
Thank you to the OP. After 26 years the dimmer wore out on my mirror. I got a junk yard one from ebay for $30, and it had part of the windshield still attached. I guess they couldn’t figure out how to remove it, Too bad they didn’t read this post first. It took me less than five minutes once I had this post in front of me.
