Freon Leak
I have a freon leak around the compressor. The system was charged then it was empty within 2 days. The dye that I put in was all around the compressor. I was just courious if a leak in the compressor was fixable. Could a leak from a O-Ring cause that much freon to leak out?

Re: Freon Leak
Yes, if the seal at where the lines is blown then new seals may fix it.....if it is coming out the sahft seal....well that can be replaced but much more difficult.

Re: Freon Leak
How can I tell where it is coming from, the compressor is below the alternator.

Re: Freon Leak
I looked at the compressor and there is a rubber plug that isn't plugged in in, I can't plug it back in so could that be source of the leak?
There is some oil around the fittings on the compressor that the low side line connects to. But there is a lot of oil on the bottom of the compressor could all of the oil come from that fitting or is there another source that I can't see? |
Re: Freon Leak
Clean it well and watch where it's coming from again from day to day.

Re: Freon Leak
Got any pic's of where this "plug" goes?

Re: Freon Leak
Your car does not use "freon". It uses R-134a refrigerant. "Freon" is not made anymore because it depletes the ozone layer.

Re: Freon Leak
Yeah, it's not freon. It's SUVA that are used in R134A system.

And thank you for that very constructive feedback. Not sure how that very insightful information is going to really help the OP solve their issue but you knew that and isn't anything new.
