Compliance bushing replacement?

I went to dealer today to do inspection on my 04 accord v6. I just bought it with 120k mile.

After inspection they told me the car is in very good shape but front compliance bushings need to be replaced. I did see the crack in the rubber bushing, the passenger side has 1 inch(?) crack.

I have no idea on this problem, so should I do it immediately or just leave it there?

From what ive heard is the bushings are okay for a little while. (Again just what ive heard) Its there to keep the dirt out. Im gonna try to find a sealant of some sort instead of replacing mine which is the same one and same size crack.

Dealer told me if bushings are bad, it's likely to damage wheel/tire, causing alignment problem. Also it will damage the lower control arm. The part is cheap, but labor cost almost 400. So that's why I'm not so sure about it. Do you know the normal cost for bushing replacement?

400.00 seems about right.. to remove the arm and press the old bushing out and press the new one in. vehicle will wander while driving.. meaning it will pull back in forth in either directions. especially over bumps.

Try a Honda/Acura indy shop. They may do it cheaper. There is a tool available (I have one) that can be used to R and R the bushings with out removing the entire arm.

That's what I'm thinking of. Indy mechanic can do it too. Not a hard job.

When the bushings break all the way. You will know. The car will handle like sh*t. It may make some noise as well. If you have a good set of hands you can do them yourself. Then when you get them out make sure you mark the slits on the rubber with a paint pen or a sharpie, just draw a line on to the lower control arm. Take it to a machine shop or anyone with a press and pop the old one out and pop the new one in. Just make sure they go in the same way they came out.

This is the similar tool DCfiver is referring to. Snap-on and a one or more other companies makes one too.
