03 civic had a bad trans and was slipping bad. a new transmission was bought and installed and the car was warmed up and the car ran drove perfect.
next day the car wasdrivien cold and trans was slipping and shifting harsh until it finally warmed.
I came to the conclusion the transmission is good. so we checked the cel and got one code it was transmission related po730-incorrect transmission gear ratio.

the trans is matched with he engine and tires are factory spec. what could be the problem.

Sounds like you may have bought a faulty replacement.

P0730: Problem in Shift Control System

(record freeze data, then proceed)

1. Check for other codes in addition to P0730

Are there other codes indicated?

Yes - Troubleshoot and repair the cause(s) for the other code(s), then proceed.

No - Go to step 2.

NOTE: Do not continue with this procedure until you've resolved the cause of the other code(s).

2. Drain the ATF through a strainer. Inspect the strainer for metal debris or excessive clutch material.

Does the strainer contain metal debris or excessive clutch material?

Yes - Replace (or rebuild) the transmission.

No - Replace the ATF, then go to step 3.

3. Measure the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th clutch pressure. (you'll need a shop to do this, unless you have a Helm's manual and the proper tools)

Is each clutch pressure within the service limit?

Yes - Go to step 4

No - Repair the hydraulic system or replace the transmission.

4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

5. Replace shift solenoid valve A and B. (again, you'll need a manual and tools, or take it to a shop)

6. Replace the A/T clutch pressure solenoid valve A and B. (again, manual and tools, or shop)

7. Turn the ignition switch ON and clear the code with a scan tool, or, remove fuse #6 from the under-hood fuse box. Wait a minute, then reinstall. (this also resets the ECU)

8. Using the scan tool, check to be sure that the engine coolant temperature is 176 degrees or above. If the coolant temperature is low, warm up the engine until the radiator fan comes on.

9. Drive the vehicle at speeds over 12 MPH in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears in the D position for more than 30 seconds.

10. Recheck for code P0730.

Does P0730 come up again?

Yes - Replace (or rebuild) the transmission.

No - Intermittent issue, the system is okay at this time.

If you're asking, you're best off taking it to a shop. Automatic transmissions are a bit complex to work with for anyone without knowledge, and I personally wouldn't touch one with a 99 ft. pole

well traNS is def. not bad. it drives fine when warm and occasionally drives fine when cold. recently we replaced the alternator and the car seems to be driving fine now. we have been driving it for 2 days and trans shifts like butter.

i do know that the old tranny had the same code. the new tranny has like 8k miles on it. but if its bad than the problem is more complicated than just replacing the tranmission because the trans is good

still been driving good. and no cel's yet. im wondering if the alternator just had to charge the battery up a bit
