7 Attachment(s)
Well I started working on putting all my pretty pieces together yesterday so I thought I would use this thread to track my status. Ill update it as I go.
So far all I have done is clean and paint the block Installed the oil squirters Installed the main bearings Installed the crank Used plati-gauge on the main bearings .038mm or .0015" across all 5 Next I am going to install and check the rod bearing clearance's MORE TO COME |
Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
Good $hit. I wish my lady would let me build my stuff in the house...lol

Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
keep me posted if you want to do another build page, that last one you did here:
http://www.turboinstall.net/general-...a/drive-axles/ on axles has already helped a couple people |

Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
Looks like its really coming along.

Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
.038mm/25.4 = .001496" looks like your missing a zero. Just so nobody thinks your clearance is wrong.

thanks guys, once I get the pistons and rods figured out Ill continue the build. |
Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
Sorry, read your first post. You put .015". It should be .0015". To convert mm to inches you simply divide by 25.4. or multiple if your going from inches to mm. Your block is really clean... What did you use to clean it?

Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
Looking good ! Are you running those Wiseco's and forged rods in this ? If so you can block the oil squirters off. If you do want to run them then make sure you watch the clearence between the bottom of the piston skirt at the oil squirter. Good luck :)
|
Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
yep, I plan on keeping the oil squirters as it is my daily driver. I will make sure I have plenty of clearence when I install the pistions. Wiseco gives me the specs for that on the tech card.
|
Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
To be honest whether it be a daily driver or what ever i don't think there needed with forged pistons. Everyone i know just blocks them off. If you choose to run them you'll have to bend them (without snapping one) to get the right clearence.

Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
I'm not sure about the clearences been ok Mac. I have seen them stuck to a magnetic sump plug in the past because the clearence wasnt checked. This engine was a ITR B18c though (standard stroke). I assume the pistons will be the same design wise as the engines more or less are. I could be wrong though....

Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
Its possible. On my fully sleeved B18C1, Pistons/rods, all clear the squirters. Been like that about 10 years now. But again, if he changed stroke, I'd be more concerned.

Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
last engine i blew up used mahle pistons and the squirters had to be bent a bit to clear the piston and leave reasonable clearance. long story short : check clearance

Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
Oh yeah you can bet on that. I'm trying to build this thing by the book, since I'm not in a big hurry. Ask 10 questions, check and mesure 3-4 times then put together and re-reck and check.

Good Call, Rich... Very informative!!!

Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
Thank you, theres some really good info there. Its definatly worth a watch if you ask me. Jeff Evans sure knows his stuff so you can't go wrong hearing it off him.

Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
Yep I watched those videos over and over about a month ago, I have them saved on my desktop for quick reference. hahaha

Re: My B18C1 Engine Build/Assembly
Good stuff lol, i had a feeling that you may have but thought they would still be worth posting up just incase.
