06 civic tensioner problem!

Ok so i have 1.8 civic coupe . That i was doing my serpentine belt so i pulled up on my tensioner and the belt came out fine. Then when going to put the new belt on my tensioner seens not to be puttin tension on the belt . Now i have alot of slack left i mean like a extra pully slack. So im lost and give up . What am i doing wrong? Ok before you guys tell me stuff that i already checked . The belt matched the length of the old one. Ok the car has ac so it is the right belt. Im lost. I even went on all data to see the belt routin and it matched the way i had it. Please any help would be apperciated

...a extra pully of slack?

Get a repair manual and verify the path of the belt, over the pullys.

You can always use the book for torque specs.

when you hold the tensioner to put the new belt on is it giving resistance? if not then your tensioner is bad...otherwise id say to recheck your routing even though you have already double checked it.

You're probably wrapping it around the pulleys wrong. :P They changed the belt and routing of it on some models.
