Re: 1986 crx hf

trying looking at the b-series to do an engine swap that may fit in the bay, that would be your best start.

Re: 1986 crx hf

Why swap? That thing in good tune should get 50 mpg on the highway. That was its mission. If you want power buy an Si. I will trade you a '91 CRX si with some body rust (never said I wasnt honest), 131k on the body, recent D16A6 (OEM) engine (no leaks) for your car straight-up.

Awesome find! How many miles are on it?

Also, I agree with Kess. Those old CRX engines get amazing mileage. You might want to hang on to it.

Re: 1986 crx hf

Welcome! The Si engine will bolt in but you have to swap all the under dash wireing as well. The duel cam D16 out of a gen I Integra will also bolt in with some minor work. B series will also work but it doesnt just bolt in. Its ver expensive and there is alot of work to get it done. Google redpepperracing for all you gen I CRX swap info.

I personally would leave it stock and get that 40 mile per gallon. ;)

it got over 200k...was well maintain and im the second owner lol....i think imma leave it stock might just buy me a spare engine from a junk yard and rebuild....but from 800 bucks i cant complain

Re: 1986 crx hf

I would check your floor boards for rust and the torsion bar mounts for rust. not to ention the rear wheel wells. that is the places that I had on mine. but I finally had to get rid of mine last year cause of stupid NJ emission laws.

other then that I loved me hf and it ran forever with 42 mpg. it was a newer one 1987 crx hf.

Theres a 1986 Clean title and running CRX HF nearby.

what do you guys think? he wants $750. I'd do $700.

but this year, does it have torsion front suspension? if so I'm less likely to get it

edit, replace stars with jdm south (w/o space). WTF

word. I was hoping to get a cheap car for the track but ehh I've already started on the RSX so its not a bad option to continue with it and have a cheap DD.

I want something to autocross.

if I get another FWD car I would want double wishbone all around. RSX suspension sucks.

lawl whats up man?

see my last PM on JDMS. only thing holding me back is that suspension set up. I said to myself before that I'm not getting another fail wheel drive Honda unless its double wishbone all around

yes.. because the honda crx with torsien bars doesn't reign supreme in CSP since 1984...

don't even begin to compare the handling of a first gen CRX to that of an RSX.. weight is different, wheel base is different, suspension is entirely different..

I didn't completely dismiss it but my friend who is a mechanic doesn't do torsion bar alignment... :crook:
