Power Steering "O" Ring Replacement...

Sup Guys,

A few months ago i replaced the high pressure power steering hose on my wifes 2000 Accord v6 due to a small leak. After replacing it the hose the car began making a whining noise which is annoying. When i took it back to the mechanic he told me i might have some air in the system which should go away after a couple of days. Several months later it has not. I have replaced the top "O" ring that connects to the pump but have not replaced the bottom one. My question is, is it difficult to change this "O" ring?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have installed powersteering pumps on some different cars and some were killed by air in the system. I like to spin them before putting the belt on and then bumping the starter before just going at it. Dont know but sounds like your pump COULD be bad and an o-ring wont fix it. It could also be an old belt, wrong fluid, or what I said above, killed by air.

I dont understand why it would be the pump considering that it wasnt making that noise prior to changing the hose. The fluid i used is original honda power steering fluid. could a loose belt cause it to make that sound?

Well the hose when you put it on there did not have fluid in it. Not saying its your pump just that I have had experience with air ruining a pump before. Yes a belt could be a problem as well but an o-ring is more than likely not the problem unless it is leaking and then it still would not make the whining sound. Is there fluid in it now?

Yes there's fluid in it now.

Also, can anyone tell me if this tube which is also connected to the Power Steering pump in front of the high pressure hose carries an "O" ring as well?

The reason i asked is because i came across this youtube clip with an acura TL that shows the same symptoms and similar engine set up.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

the plastic ones are known to suck air from the feed side and growl. possible on that.
