How to fix broken speedometer.
I have a 1994 honda civic and when i drive sometimes the speedometer needle does not move or sometimes it goes to outrageous numbers like i could be going 30 mph n it goes all the way to 60 or even 100 what could be the problem?

vehicle speed sensor, its located near the rear or the transmission on top one 10mm bolt holds it in

I have this same problem...I do not think it is the speed sensor. I have replaced that, and it still does it. Im thinking its in the wiring behind the cluster?? It is a DX chassis/body, but has a EX cluster. The car runs like normal, vtec still kicks. So any more info on this would be greatly appreciated!

clean the plug that goes to the sensor on the tranny. i had the same problem once

do what ej2b20v said .or try a dif cluster if you changed the vss sensor

Do i have to take the car apart to get to the plug or just the cluster?

just take the bezel off, take the 4 screws and take the cluster out..

its the one that goes form the sensor to a grey plug clean out the grey plug in the inside sometimes it gets coroted

some times the circuit board goes bad on the rear of the gauge. you'll see this board once you remove the gauge from the cluster housing.
when i bought my car the speedo would randomly work, i changed out the board from a junk yard gauge, and started working right away. |
