New project car: 1989 Civic Si
So I first laid eyes on this gem when I first went to my cousin's girlfriends house. Her dad owned this Si and has maintained it extremely well since he has owned it (1995). This car has been owned by my friend's family since 1989 (Aunt, Grandpa, Father) now ME!!!
I finally had to chance to buy this car about 2 weeks ago. I'm really excited to start getting parts for this car. I'm not sure what I want to do engine wise. I am either going to turbo the d16 or swap a b18c in there. But this motor runs amazingly well so for now I'm going to upgrade suspension and brakes. I just washed her so I thought I would snap a couple of pictures. I hope you guys like it! http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5212/...ce891f2a_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5091/...835bb48b_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5016/...782c11bc_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5177/...06cf8c3c_z.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1394/...d4f8b95d_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5091/...ded43f64_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5051/...49973272_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5177/...8c5542c0_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5220/...cdc6e2cc_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5294/...e49d13fb_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5211/...15916fb4_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5257/...456df498_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5214/...bd7ac5cb_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5254/...e9659902_z.jpg More pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kabesam...7626126539565/ I will post more pictures as soon as I start making progress on this baby! |

That is a gem and very competitive sts car.

Re: New project car: 1989 Civic Si
Very clean. You should just leave it stock and not bastardize it with a swap/turbo or rice suspension :x

Re: New project car: 1989 Civic Si
Stock B16 would be nice. I'd leave the outside stock.

Re: New project car: 1989 Civic Si
i would keep it stock just lower it and put some nice wheels on it...thats a clean car congrats

Re: New project car: 1989 Civic Si
Thanks for the comments. As for the engine maybe I will keep it stock, I wasn't really intending on swapping it or doing anything with it anytime soon anyways.

Nice find, wish my 90 si had been that clean when I found it. Although my seats don't have any tears.:P

Re: New project car: 1989 Civic Si
Thanks guys!
I can't wait to get some new Ground Controls/Koni Yellows. My stock struts are done. I also plan on replacing all bushings. Tax return needs to hurry up!!! |
Re: New project car: 1989 Civic Si
You should restore your 89' seats. Even though they are ripped you can source the side fabric and foams from a 90-91. I always try to keep extra bolsters for future seats.

Re: New project car: 1989 Civic Si

Re: New project car: 1989 Civic Si
that is fantastically original and cleannn for a 22 year old car. how many of these do you see around now in that condition, esp an SI model? dont mess it up and do stupid sh*t to it...like a lot of guys do with a good survivor. ive seen it too many times. if you gotta mod, buy a "project". all that Si needs is another 20 years of the SAME maintenance that got it this far...

Re: New project car: 1989 Civic Si
I'd love to have a black interior that clean in my 89 hatch...

Re: New project car: 1989 Civic Si
Now I feel all this pressure...lol. Well I'm definitely not swapping it anytime soon. But, I do have a CRX HF with a B18B, but my intentions were to sell that and drop the money into this Si. Maybe my plans can change. :)

Re: New project car: 1989 Civic Si
cars a beauty minus the seat blemishes and the rear bumper fading. throw some paint on there.... or at least some shoe polish or back to black type stuff and make her even nicer. she needs new shoes though. jealous on a clean black si though

Re: New project car: 1989 Civic Si
Leave it stock (besides maybe suspension and mild bolt-ons). No need to ruin a good car by doing a motor swap, and the D16a6 really responds well to a header and intake.
For some reason people feel compelled to swap motors as soon as they find a car like this. It is perfectly enjoyable as-is. |
