Replacing Inner Tie Rod on Del Sol, Info needed
I have a bad tie rod on the passenger side on my 97 Del Sol. Took it to a shop and they wanted to replace the Tie Rod, Wheel Bearing, and do a Alignment For $486. I said HELL NO. I have another knuckle with a good bearing that Im going to swap today. But I wasnt 100% sure how to replace the Inner Tie rod .
And write ups will be helpful AND YES I KNOW it will need a alignment after the parts are installed. I do not plan on driving the car to the shop. I have a trailer that will be used. |

Its not that hard and if you put some tape around the threads up to the bolt, you wont be off by much at all when you replace the tie rod. It a 3 tool affair lol. Proper size combination wrench, pair of vice grips, and a hammer. Oh and the socket for the tie rod end bolt. GL

The whole tape idea applies with the outer right?. Im needing to replace the inner and wasnt sure how it was bolted to the rack & pinion.

I don't understand. If the tie rod is bad why would you NOT replace it? Period. Are we talking about the OUTER tie rod that is bad?
