Very creative bumper work, it is a very nice design.

Which engine do you have? Time to hit the junkyard to get some spare mirrors..... the hatchback is getting scarce and the mirrors from the 4 doors does not fit unless you bore some of the holes a tad.... at least I managed to get one spare for the passenger side, and did the same thing for the cluster, got one with the tach..... with almost the same mileage 140.

Typical HT ricer boy, K swaps arnt the answer for everything. Way overkill. Swap it over to a 1.5 Si or a ZC swap. Thats plenty of power for these small cars. :)

Do you know if its pretty hard to go from carbed to EFI? I wanted to do the z6 swap. I heard something about swapping over fuel lines and fuel pump and the whole harness from an si or teg.

I did a dpfi to mpfi and obd0 to obd1 swap in my wagovan for a d16z6 all the wiring I did myself. If its as easy as that I will be stoked.

Since I bought it for a daily so I can do a bunch more stuff to my wagon I probably won't be touching the motor.

But I do plan on painting it olive green pearl. Putting in hids and I wanna lower it. Just kinda stumped in the pre 88 suspension right now.

probably getting some ls webs or putting my sportmax 501's on it haha

hey man i was just wondering how hard was it to replace the tach? did you have to rewire or anything?

letank 03-21-2011 11:50 AM

Re: 1986 civic hatch build

I did the same thing, find the same vintage, 84-87 without the fuel injection, and it is a plain swap, the plugs matches. I have an 85 on the 86, I was even lucky to find a vehicle with only 2000 extra miles.

Great find! (And good paint work, too!)

I love that generation, all angles and pyramids.

How much did you pay for it (if you don't mind my asking)?

to drop the car, you will need to use 1st gen teg torsion bars and re-index the bar to the height you need. There is an adjustment bolt that will give you plus or minus 1/2" height adjustment.

As to rears, you can try and find an old pair of jackson racing or lightspeed springs. You would be better off finding a set of lowering springs off an EF and lop off a couple coils..

Struts and shocks are no problem..
