CD error code E00- help!

Hi everyone, I have a 98 accord with a combo Am/Fm cd player (single disk). When I put a cd in it, it starts to read (I think), and then stops and gives me an error message "E00" and then spits out the CD. Can anyone tell me what this means and how I might fix it?
Thanks in advance!

Re: CD error code E00- help! (lx98)

not sure if your E00 error is the same as the PE-0 error in my ex gf's prelude.. but if so.. I'd replace the head unit...

when her unit did that.. we would put in a CD.. it would load it.. then eject it right away w/ the code displayed... we tried cleaning it w/ a cd lens cleaner and tried all types of discs... CD-R burned, store purchased/pre-recorded, and when I took it to the dealer.. he blamed my CD-Rs saying nothing was wrong w/ the player.. I called BS on him.. so I went to the store and bought a brand new CD still in plastic wrap.. I told HIM to open up the new CD and make the player play...

so reluctantly he replaced the unit for free under warranty... fast forward about a year or so.. same thing happened... got a 2nd unit replaced for free under warranty.. fast forward about a year and a 1/2 and it did the PE-0 AGAIN http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emhammer.gif

thats 3 head units (stock/came w/ the car when purchased (new) off the lot, 1 replacement (deck #2), 2nd replacement (deck #3)....

either my exgf was doing something wrong w/ the units (you just pop in a cd.. i don't see what could go wrong).. or these units just suck...

we ended up replacing it w/ a Clarion DXR-9575 (or is it 9795? I forget the model #)... last I heard (we broke up a while ago).. the Clarion is still working...

SUMMARY: so save yourself the hassle and get a new aftermarket unit...
