GETTING HOT WHILE IDLING
I have a 2001 honda civic that continues to get hot when i am sitting and idling for more then 3 minutes or so. Then when I rev the motor or start to drive down the road the temperature will return to normal. I replaced the thermostat but it still has the same problem, although since I replaced the thermostat it seems to not get hot as fast as it used to. I am thinking maybe I got a defective thermostat or possibly the water pump is out. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered a similar problem.

Did try burping your rad? Is the fan coming on, if not check the relay?

Re: GETTING HOT WHILE IDLING
Usually when the car gets hot when sitting, and cools off when driving, it's a fan issue.
Check if it turns on when sitting and getting hot. If not, there's your problem. I had the fuse go on mine once. |
Re: GETTING HOT WHILE IDLING
Check fan(s) if they're good then its a head gasket.

Re: GETTING HOT WHILE IDLING
did you change your coolant recently? try burping the air out?
i would say water pump but the OEM water pump has metal fins so i don't think there's a problem w/ broken fins... |
Re: GETTING HOT WHILE IDLING
