What's the best turbo setup for a GSR?
Ok, so I have a 98 ek hatch, and I've pretty much made up my mind that I was going to put a GSR motor in it that came already assembled from Hmotorsonline.com. I was just wondering what the best turbo setup would be if I wanted to get into the mid to high 12 sec. range in drag racing. Price is not really a key, I just want what is best. Can anyone help me out?

For your goals I would go with a 57trim .63 a/r. Check with Speed Factory. They are kickass man! Trust me! You can get the kit below for around 2600 + shipping. Best price I found anywhere!

Just remember that most kits (cant think of any that do) do not come with injectors, chipped ecu, boost controller, or anything of that nature so its gonna be a bit more money

Re: What's the best turbo setup for a GSR?
mid to hi 12s on street tires, radials or slicks?
Id go with a simple setup -ramhorn - 750-1000cc injectors - 57-60 trim - 3 inch dp and exhaust - good tune you can run 12s with stock internals in an EK for sure on drag radials. Here was my buddys EK setup that ran 11.8 on slicks @ 117mph - built gsr cp/eagle - peak boost ramhorn - rc 750cc - hks bov - tial wg - 3 inch dp and exhaust - E85 and 13lbs |
Re: What's the best turbo setup for a GSR?
I had an ebay kit on a stock ls vtec with 200+ thousand miles on it and made numerous 11.7 passes. Any turbo kit is gonna go 12s with street tires if the tune is right and the driving is superb. The issue is reliability. That is what you are paying for

Re: What's the best turbo setup for a GSR?
components-wise, the setup I listed for him is far more reliable than any ebay kit. If he wants reliability, he should look over all aspects of his build. Your bottom end is going to be the weak point.
But since this thread isnt "Whats the most reliable setup for a gsr" I just listed the turbo kit. |
Re: What's the best turbo setup for a GSR?
Also keep in mind the likely hood you will get your turbo kit a week or two after you order is unlikely from some of those names mentioned above. Do your research and drop your expectations down if you want a quick turnaround. And as stated these are just turbo kits. A lot of other parts that go into making a complete setup is not included and you will spend a lot to make a turbo kit work on a car.
good luck |
