What gas do I use to pass smog?
So I have to pass smog again.
I'm thinking of ways that might help I always fill up with shell, should I use Premium or just the regular stuff? I know it runs a little quieter on the mid grade stuff but it just might be me. What do you guys suggest? Thanks |
Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
Supreme, go take your car on the freeway for 15-20 to heat up your catilittic converter before you go to Smog, goodluck.

Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
Do you guys actually understand what octane helps with and what the cons are of running it?

What do you guys suggest? Thanks Higher octane means more resistance to ignition, and you want all of the fuel to burn as easily as possible for a smog test. In addition, most premium fuels have detergents and such to clean out the fuel system, and the last thing you want is any of that gunk being burned during a smog test. That means regular low grade on a stock engine. And consider a bottle of http://paymeortrademe.com/OnlineProd...54129001-O.gif or http://media.ruralking.com/image.php...0626&nsize=300 |
Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
Us smog tech's recommend what the manufacture suggests. So Regular it is.
Remember if you run cleaners, such as injector cleaner, run it completely out of the system. |
Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
Yea, I bought regular. I never saw that bottle up top though

I saw the thread title and came in here to make fun of the idiots in this thread that were sure to give this as an answer. Stop giving advice on shit you don't understand retard.
Its post like these that are making Honda-Tech a shitty place to get advice, that's just uncalled for. Especially since you didn't even give any reasons why your opinion might be right. |
Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
not sure if it'll make much of a diff, but i'll throw it out there. i hear stories where you can try E-85 with slightly bigger injectors...440cc injectors are what i've heard to maintain performance and get better emissions.

E85 needs more fuel for the same amount of air. Though, I suppose an engine running rich could be leaned out with some E85 added to the tank, the challenge would be getting the mixture right to not run lean, which raises NOx pollution. |
Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
+1 on the heet in the gas tank

Not sure why supreme would be better. doesn't it just have more cleaner |
Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
Iso heet works.
|
Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
Your gonna need BP gasoline.
|
Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
I failed =[
All numbers too high, everything else was good The guy id I have an air leak too much or too little fuel in the combustion chamber but too much raw gas out the muffler That crc stuff works? |

Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
You need to post the numbers for some help. Any additive you try adding to the tank is not going to work. There is something fundamentally wrong with your engine.

Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
How should I use this heet stuff? Cuz it says it treats 20 gallons of gas but I'm guessing I won't want it that diluted to pass smog right?

Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
Ps I have a 94 gsr motor so what octane fuel should I run it with

I'll post my umbers later My timing was 19 TDC The tech told me I have an air leak and too much built up carbon in my engine I have a sohc zc with dc sport header AEM CAI and tanabe medalion exhaust. Car is a 91 crx I set the timing on the cam gear back two degrees, so I assume now it's at 17 TDC I checked my fuel pressure and it's at 42-43 psi I had changed my oil and poured some engine restore in, had 400 miles on it so far I know my IACV is going out so I cleaned it real good before the test |
Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
What does the iso heet do?
Do I run it through or run it in the tank during the test? |
Re: What gas do I use to pass smog?
Yeah I'm wondering the same thing, and how much fuel should I add it too? Cuz it says 20 gallons but I don't have a 20 gallon tank obviously and I know it's not intended for passing smog, so should I add it to like a half tank or 1/4 or what?
