How much will a K Swap Cost?
 

Ok so i was givin a 95 civic hatch for a graduation gift. It has a d15b in it. I want to put a K20 swap into it and make about 215hp to the wheels. I was wondering if anybody know a pricelice on this. K series swap are more new than b series so i think i want to skip over the b series and go straight to k. Keep in mind that i have nothing so i want to know what everthing cost.

ive seen them in craigslist for $2100 full swap..it also depends on tranny 5 or 6 gears..that alone will boost up the price...

Are you performing the swap? That makes a big difference too. Just think about what a B swap has involved, then add the extra money from it being a K. They are not too expensive IF you do it yourself.

You can get a K-swap for $2000-5500 depending on if you look for them on craigslist or if you go to hmotors. The latter being the much safer route. Then you have to put it in. It's a lot more involved than a B-series swap...fab is required, gas tank has to be sourced, custom harness, etc, etc have to be acquired and installed..and that will cost a lot. I've seen figures as high as 8-10K to get a K-swap in an EG and running properly. Oh, and if you want 215whp, you'll have to throw money into it to get it there. Even the JDM Type-R K20A is 220whp at the crank, or about 187 whp.

In short, be prepared to spend a lot of money and time getting it right.

theres a good write up on k20 forums...i decided to just sleeve and build the gsr slap turbo setup on it, couldnt justify the money on a N/a setup..

you want 215hp why not just boost your d series and make 215hp for almost 3k for a good set up. a K series is gonna cost almost 7k with the power you looking for it would need to be a k20z1 or a k24/a2 or z1 setup. then you need kpro which is another 1k and mounts for another 1k. goodluck hope your pockets are deep.

I was into a K24 swap in my EK for a while....but when the lady and i found out we were expecting a lil one...i had to dump the project...lots of money

got a eg hatch and been debating myself whether to just boost the b I got or go K......... If you want to do it right gonna cost you between 7-8K........ Easy, the swap from hmotorsonline is like 5200 and you still need another 1500-2000 to put the swap in the car!

anywhere from 5-9g depending on what parts you use. theres a lot of shit you can switch around

Don't look on Hmotors online...Or any online motor dealers for that matter. Search the local, and maybe not so local, junkyards for k20's ( or k24's). Get the trans, shift linkage, ECU and motor and go from there. It's still not going to be cheap, but cheaper and more manageable. I got my k20a2 for $2200 out of an '04 with 58k miles on it.

i had one it cost me about 7g's to have the car running i went boost on it so thats included in the 7g's.....i was pushing around 275whp 210ftlbt

where did you see mounts for 1k??? their $400 on average and thats still a little pricey...heres one i was working on but i just sold it for the right price..

why are you guys responding to someone with only 1 post and a question that can be answered simply by doing research? This is going to start a K vs B vs H argument all over again. "Why spend blah blah on K when you can build a B for blah blah? etc.." let him learn to do some research on his own. I suggest he joins K20a.org to find an answer.. otherwise mods should immediately close this thread.

Well i have 5k set aside for the moment. Yea im one of those guys who lives at home with mom, have no kids, and have a really good job. I really dont want a d, b, or h series. I want something more revelant, so ill pay for a 205-215hp k swap than a 230hp b20vtec or a 300 hp turbo d series. This is my first project and i have been doing my research, this is part of the research. I like other ppls opinion so i dont pay to much or get cheated. Im not doin the swap myself and im going to get hondata kpro and have it tuned. thanks for the support.

You clearly haven't done any research otherwise you wouldnt be asking such a question that has been ask so many times. Go to k20a.org and you will find the answer. Sounds to me like your just lazy and want a simple answer. Well there's no simple answer to this question. There are alot of parts involved that will total the cost. And since you will NOT be doing the swap yourself, then you need to figure out whos going to do it and what their price is...

my friend has a k20z3 swap... it cost him 6k for the whole entire thing thats already including the swap,engine,headers, the swap harness and the kpro... if you go on craigslist you can find a k20 engine and tranny for about 2000 and then your gonna spend about 3k in parts. my friend is pulling about 220 to the wheel with a street tune on k-pro ecu...
its a great swap to build but it just takes time due to the fact the EG ENGINE BAY MOTOR MOUNTS HAVE TO BE CUT OFF.. its a long process but it will have great results
